A Perverted Gospel

What is the gospel? It is the good news that God sent his son into the world to die on the cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. The gospel is that he was buried and raised the third day:
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I
declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and
in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word
which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ
died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that
He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Notice in these
verses that Paul affirms the gospel is that
“by which also you are saved.” In
the great commission Jesus said, “Go into
all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will
be condemned” (Mark
The truth of the
matter is that salvation is not by any one thing alone. The “perverted gospel”
of “faith alone” is patently false, for James wrote, “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only”
