Sunday July 5, 2009, the Heartland congregation worshipped for the first time at our new home, located at 1693 West Main Street in Greenwood, Indiana. We thank Almighty God, for it is by his grace and providence that this has been made to happen.

We have had several “new beginnings.” It was on June 25, 2000 that Heartland had its new beginning as a congregation. We met at the Signature Inn, located at Southport Road and I-65 for several weeks. On the first worship I spoke on the topic, “A New Beginning.” Later we moved our worship to the Sugar Grove Elementary School, located in the Center Grove area of Greenwood. Later, God opened a door for us to have a better facility in which to worship and carry on his work.

On September 5, 2004, we had another new beginning when a vacant church building at 2455 Fairview Place became available for us to lease. This was a vast improvement and allowed us to grow and develop numerically and spiritually. On May 15, 2005, Mitch Davis was invited to preach the gospel along with Shelby Floyd. He has done a great job. Our last service was conducted on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at this location. The building has since been demolished for commercial construction.

After a week of hard work on the building by the congregation, we all were excited to worship for the first time in our new building. Thank you to all those who have volunteered to do the work that needed to be done in preparation for this day. The teamwork has been fantastic.

As God instructed Moses when the children of Israel were ready to leave the bondage of Egypt and head for the Promised Land, so it is with us:

Exodus 14:15

Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.

NKJV

The church has the same charge to move on in faith and capture the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

NIV

As we go forward in faith, we invite all in the greater Greenwood and Center Grove area of Indiana to visit and worship with us at 10:00 A.M. each Lord’s Day.
