Boast in the Lord

It is the nature of some people to boast—about their education, their possessions, their status in life, ad nauseam (2 Timothy 3:2). This is a good way for others to turn the other way when they see such a one coming their way.

But, "Let him who
boasts boast in the Lord." For it is not the one who

Jeremiah 9:24
The Bible
is its own best commentary. What does it mean to boast in the Lord? The weeping
prophet Jeremiah explains what it means to “boast in the Lord!” He declares, “but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight," declares the LORD” (Jeremiah 9:24, NIV). To
“boast in the Lord” then is to know the nature of the true God. To declare to
the world that God exercises and delights in kindness, justice and
righteousness!
